From big to small, we feed them all!

Mulch & Loam

Starting in early spring, our bins are full of fragrant, nutrient rich mulch for your garden beds! Mulch improves the health and performance of your gardens by aiding in moisture retention, and preventing the growth of weeds throughout the season, plus it just looks great! Our mulches are made from real tree bark which means they have actual nutrient value for the plants in your beds. We carry four different types of bulk mulch, as well as screened loam, crushed stone and fill dirt:

  • Pine Bark Mulch
  • Black Mulch
  • Hemlock Bark Mulch
  • Red Cedar Mulch
  • Screened Loam
  • ¾” Blue Stone
  • Fill Dirt

Mulching Tips & Tricks

  1. Keep mulch 6-12 inches away from the base of trees and shrubs.

Allowing mulch to touch the bark of trees and shrubs can cause the bark of your woody ornamentals to be constantly moist which can make them more susceptible to diseases.

  1. Avoid Volcano mulching

Volcano mulching is a term used to describe when mulch is applied around a tree and piled up against the trunk creating a “volcano” look. This can be very detrimental to the health of the tree and in some cases can cause girdling which can kill the tree. As mentioned above, always keep mulch 6-12 inches away from the base of trees and shrubs.
